Friday's are "my" days. The one day of the week where I have dedicated "me time" carved out that I use to work out, run errands, relax... be silent.

The hours between 9 AM when I drop the kids off at Day Care and Preschool and 1 PM when I pick them up are my sanity. These precious minutes set me up for a fun, kid-filled afternoon and for what will certainly be an exhausting weekend. This haven sustains me from one crazy week to the next.

So this Friday this is what I did:
  • 8 mile run - easy pace (8 min/mile) along the Bay. It was a "too warm to run in anything other than a sports bra day" - pretty unbelievable for February, but I'll take it. Here I am grinning post-run.

  • Short bouldering session at the climbing gym. I FINALLY sent the V6 problem I have been working for the last couple of weeks. Here's the proof:

  • Then my favorite - Mountain bike ride with the Husband. We decided that for Valentine's day we would go mountain biking at one of our favorite places - Purissima Creek Redwoods Preserve. It was an absolutely stunning day, with views to the coast and beyond. The single-track descent was as fun as I remembered and the climb was as brutal. It has been over 5 years since we had done that ride (i.e., since I was pregnant with my first). Mountain biking was something that we used to do together a lot before we had kids and now in the mode of ever-switching off we rarely find the time to ride together. Today was maybe the glimmer of hope that we will be able to start making that time to ride together again in the not-to-distant future. With kids in tow, you definitely need to be able to take the long view on things or it can get too depressing :)

Cloudless Day - Views to Forever

The rest of the day was filled with fun kid stuff, frozen yogurt, kid bike ride, the park, dinner at Big Mouth Burger, and then bath, bed & beyond.

But I sit here now, tired, sore and grinning. Dang - It was a good one!
